Sudden Light
Sudden Light
Dante Gabriel Rossetti
I have been here before,
But when or how I cannot tell:
I know the grass beyond the door,
The sweet, keen smell,
The sight sound, the lights around the shore.
You have been mine before, ─
How long ago I may not know:
But just when at that swallow’s soar
Your neck turned so,
Some veil did fall, ─ I knew it all of yore.
Has this been thus before?
And shall not thus time’s eddying flight
Still with our lives our love restore
In death’s despite,
And day and night yield one delight once more?
我曾来过这个地方;
散发浓烈的芳香;
记忆难耐时间太过久长;
只记得你回头探望;
让我顿生幻想;
As fair / art thou / my bon/nie lass,
So deep / in luve / am I :
And I / will luve / thee still,/ my dear, Till a` / the seas / gang dry:
Robert Burns(1759-1796): My Luve Is like a Red, Red Rose
注;art=are luve=love bonnie=beautiful a`=all gang=go
Tyger!/ Tyger!/ burning / bright
In the / forests / of the / night
William Blake: The Tyger
Like a child / from the womb,
Like a ghost / from the tomb,
I arise / and unbuild / it again.
?Touch her not / ?scornfully,
?Think of her / ?mournfully.
- Thomas Hood
O ?hush thee / my ?babie / thy ?sire was / a knight.
I shot an arrow into the air,
It fell to earth, I knew not where;
For, so swiftly it flew, the sight
Could not follow it in its flight.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow: The Arrow and the Song
Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
Alfred Tennyson(1809-1892): Crossing the Bar
The woods are lovely, dark and deep,
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.
Robert Frost (1874-19633): Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
The fair breeze blew, the white foam flew,
The furrow followed free,
We were the first that ever burst
Into that silent sea.

You Are Not Alone
Another day has gone
I am still alone
How could this be
You are not here with me
You never said goodbye
Someone tell me why
Did you have to go
And leave my world so cold
Everyday I sit and ask myself
How did love slip away
Something whispers in my ear and says
That you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though you are far away
I am here with you
Though you are far away
I am here to stay
But you are not alone
For I am here with you
Though we are far apart
You are always in my heart
But you are not alone
Lone,Lone
Why,lone
Just the other night
I thought I heard you cry
Asking me to come
And hold you in my arms
I can hear your prayers
Your burdens I will bear
But first I need your hand
Then forever can begin

multi-national personnel at north atlantic treaty organization (nato) headquarters near paris found english to be an easy language。。。until they tried to pronounce it。 to help them discard an array of accents, the verses below were devised。 after trying them, a frenchman said he'd prefer six months hard labour to reading six lines aloud。 try them yourself。
english is tough stuff
dearest creature in creation,
study english pronunciation。
i will teach you in my verse
sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse。
i will keep you, suzy, busy。
make your head with heat grow dizzy。
tear in eye, your dress will tear。
so shall i! oh hear my prayer。
just compare heart, beard and hears。
dies and diet, lord and word。
sword and sward, retain and britain。
(mind the letter, how it's written。)
now i surely will not plague you
with such words as plaque and ague。
but be careful how you speak:
say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
cloven, oven how and low。
script, receipt, show, poem and toe。
hear my say, devoid of trickery。
daughter, laughter, and trepsichore。
typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles。
exiles, similes, and reviles;
scholar, vicar, and cigar。
solar, mica, war and far;
one, anemone, balmoral。
kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel:
gertrude, german, wind and mind。
scene, melpomene, mankind。
billet does not rhyme with ballet。
bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet。
blood and flood are not like food。
nor is mould like should and would。
viscous, viscount, load and broad。
towards, to forward, to reward。
and your pronunciation's ok。
when you correctly say croquet。
rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve。
friend and fiend, alive and live。
ivy, privy, famous, clamour
and enamour rhyme with hammer。
river, rival, tomb, bomb, comb。
doll and roll and some and home。
stranger does not rhyme with anger。
neither does devour with clangour。
souls but foul, haunt with aunt。
font, front, wont, want, grand and grant。
shoes, goes, does。 now first say finger。
and then singer, ginger, linger。
real, zeal ,mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge。
marriage, foliage, mirage and age。
query does not rhyme with very,
nor does fury sound like bury,
does, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth。
job, nob, bosom, transom, oath。
though the differences seem little。
we say actual but victual。
refer does not rhyme with deafer。
foeffer does, and zethyt, helfer。
mint, pint, senate and sedate;
scenic, arabic, pacific,
science, conscience, scientific。
