Although I didn’t have the funds to take me to university while I was in Kenya I was saving bit by bit to take me there.

My main aim of studying is to be more knowledgeable in software, hardware and networks and eventually work my way up the ladder to see me through to postgraduate which definitely means I am more respectable and more marketable. After successfully joining university what will drive me is my passion and that my family will look forward to having their son getting the opportunity to be what he wants to be. According to me there is no room for failure and my destination is getting a PhD which is going to make a role model for my future children and my siblings.

As a student of Mechanical Engineering, I have just finished my undergraduate study since July. Next what I have to face is to choose the new chocolate which I have yearned for all long. With four-year study of M.E. in China, I would like to scale higher intellectual heights by undertaking advanced studies in __ University, as I believe its rich learning environment and free academic atmosphere will open my eyes to new realities and influence me to confront the situation back home.
My strong interest in research was born during the undergraduate years at _University. Then according to my teacher’s advice, I tried to organize a team consisting of five members to make a harmonic gear reducer. As a team leader, I should not only take charge of the whole arrangement of project but also make every member of the team cooperate with each other harmoniously. Before starting the program, I, together with my team, made a detailed plan covering the schedule, materials, and equipment. The first step of our work is the design of the reducer. The design plan is as follows: (1) Set down the blue print. (2) Complete 3-D solid model with Pro/E software. (3) Finite-element analysis with ANSYS software. (4) Assembling simulation by using Pro/E. (5) Complete the 2-D draft of part and assembly. After two-week design work, we stepped to the next work, manufacture of the product. With the aid of the technique of computer, we plan the manufacturing process of every part. And then, all parts were made with various machine tools such as CNC lathe, wire electrical discharge machine, vertical machining center, and so on. Finally, we had toassembly all parts to the harmonic gear reducer, and test-drove it for many times. With five-week unremitting efforts, we succeeded in the project of harmonic gear reducer and obtained the highest praise. This special experience makes it very helpful for my further study. Firstly, I find the connection between theory and practice. Textbooks could hardly cover everything, therefore, if we want to learn more, we should pursue every opportunity to have practices. Meanwhile, I experienced the importance and mightiness of cooperation. In the project, we divided ourselves into several parts, not only doing one’s own work well, but also cooperating with each other harmoniously.
Another case worthy mentioning is my design project for graduation, “Manufacturing and Performance of Electroplated CBN Tools”. The main objective of this project is the manufacturing of the electroplated CBN (Cubic Boron Nitride) wheels and the research of its performance when grinding the heat-resisted steel. I had completed three steps of task. Firstly, I took charge of the manufacturing of electroplated CBN wheels, covering the following work: selecting electroplating solution, computing various electroplating parameters such as electrical current and temperature, adhering CBN to the tool base by electroplating a nickel layer. After these basic preparations, I had to do the second part of the research work to compare grinding abilities of electroplated CBN wheels with those of other wheels such as SiC wheels, Al2O3 wheels etc. This part of the work needs the researcher’s highly particularity and staidness. I did the detailed work as follows: (1) Grind heat-resisted steel with various wheels in the same grinding conditions. (2) Record data and compute the grinding ratio of various wheels. (3) Measure the surface roughness of the heat-resisted steel ground by various wheels. (4) Observe dulling and pullout of abrasive grains of various wheels by using optical microscope. In this part, we can conclude that electroplated wheels have far better grinding abilities than other wheels, by comparing parameters, such as grinding ratio, surface roughness etc. The final assignment of the project is to find out the most suitable parameters of grinding heat-resisted steel with electroplated CBN wheels, through comparing the grinding ratio and surface roughness of heat-resisted steel ground in different grinding parameters. By investigating the attributes of electroplated CBN wheels and concluding their practical grinding parameters, this project is very important in promoting the application of them.
China’s unique advantage of labor force predicts the resplendent future of its Mechanical Engineering, especially the manufacture, and it is our belief that this day will come soon. On the other hand, there are so many experienced technicians in China, however, with the absence of advanced experts many advanced producing method cannot be used in practical yield. When I worked as intern in some factories, I found that most of them were still using facilities which were used in America about thirty years ago. In English Literature the ability to infer information and substantiate a conclusion is essential; the component in AS coursework to write a discursive essay “is King Lear a victim of circumstance or a tragic hero?” juxtaposed the emotive element of a mans downfall with detached facts. To arrive at a reasoned conclusion, it was necessary to look at the whole picture and read around a variety of critical opinions in order to build up a body of evidence in order to have an objective judgement. I am interested in the ever-changing nature of Law as in order to better serve society or fairly arbitrate cases with extenuating circumstances such as that of Kiranjit Ahluwalia; initially given life for killing her husband after enduring 10 years of abuse her sentence was later remanded.
Furthermore, I believe French is a beneficial subject, as through studying French, my awareness of the structure and wording of English has also increased; translating an article often takes much preparation and preciseness of language to comprehend the intended nuance of meaning. The subjects of maths and physics have always fascinated me and I knew very early on that I wanted to pursue a career that involves science. As I progressed through school I found that I was much more interested in the application of the theory rather than the theory itself, and this is why I would like to study electronic engineering. I enjoy physics particularity as it can be observed in every aspect of life. From apples falling from trees to lightning, physics explains how the world works, and engineers throughout history have used their knowledge of physics to overcome problems that they face. The Romans built aqueducts to supply their cities with water; William Thomson helped lay the transatlantic telegraph cables that made communication between Europe and the Americas viable.
I also studied Advanced Higher Music last year at school. I am very interested in the use of electronics in music, and I wrote a project on the physics of the electric guitar. This interest prompted me to spend a week of work experience at Wolfson Microelectronics, a local company that engineer integrated circuits for many high profile audio equipment firms. During my stay I was assigned the task of designing and assembling a circuit to investigate the voltage offset and noise created by an operational amplifier. I was also introduced to a silicon microphone, a development which is sure to be significant in the future of electronics, and introduced to all the main stages in the development of a microchip, from design to failure analysis. My forthcoming Advanced Higher Physics investigation will be concerned with the properties of op-amps, the variables that affect these properties, and their applications.
In June, I attended a week-long Headstart course held at the University of Cambridge. We were given a task to assemble and programme a robot to navigate a course, using both dead-reckoning and sensors; I was part of the winning team. The course was thoroughly enjoyable and confirmed that engineering was the subject for me. I have applied to spend my gap year working in the engineering industry, through the Year in Industry scheme. I play the violin, guitar and bagpipes all to a high standard. Balancing these numerous extra-curricular activities with my academic work has forced me to develop my time management skills. 爱尔兰本科留学申请要求
一、学术要求
1.学历
爱尔兰的大学中的本科，接受高中的在读生和毕业生、本科在读生和专科学生的申请，大家需要出示自己的学历证明，不管是在读证还是毕业证，都需要进行公证。
一般毕业生入学考核会相对简单一些，只需要出示毕业证;而在读生则要严格得多，需要接受学校的考核，一般是入学的笔试和面试，合格才能入学，不合格需要先读预科。
2.成绩
然后还会审核学生的成绩，成绩单需要大家前往学校的学生管理处进行开具，需要提前递交申请，而且大家拿出来的材料还需要进行翻译并且接收公证。
一般来说，平均成绩需要在80分左右(满分100分)，国内外的考核方式有差异，需要进行换算，而且要想提升成功率，还需要拿到更高的分数。
二、语言要求
1.普校
语言的要求是所有学校的都有的，申请爱尔兰的普通院校，本科的学习需要大家必须拥有比较好的英语水平，雅思至少要达到5.5，托福要在550分以上。
当然如果大家的语言没有达到要求，还可以申请本校的预科学习，或者直接读语言学校，等到大家的语言达标之后，在进入正式的专业课学习。

爱尔兰留学新生须知事项
一、机票
必须提前至少一周时间通知校方安排寄宿家庭，有的学校在暑假期间要求提前二周通知。因爱尔兰与中国没有直接航班机，因而学生需经欧洲的大城市转机。伦敦是最经济的线路，但因需申请过境签证，心须到北京使馆面试，不值得劳神费力。法兰克富、巴黎、哥本哈根、阿姆斯特丹、布鲁塞尔等都可以成为前往爱尔兰的中转城市，而且无须申请过境签证。请将机票复印后传真至代理处。一般学生在出发前可以接到寄宿家庭地址、电话，以方便入境及家长与学生的联系。购票时请注意航班之间的衔接时间是否方便。
二、出发
外地学生提前一天到达北京，以免因意外发生延误登机。国际航班一般提前3小时到机场，提前2～2.5小时进行登机登记，起飞前1小时结束登记。如果你在起飞前1小时未到柜台前登记，航空公司有权将你的位子转让给其他乘客。学生到达机场后凭护照、机票在你的航线柜台前排队办理登机手续，同时托运行李。
三、行李
普通舱免费托运行李为30公斤，连带手提行李(1件)，总共不得超过38公斤。否则，超过部分须会罚款人50元/公斤(或18美元/公斤)。不可以将任何贵重物品或现金放在托运行李中，否则发生丢失航空公司不负责任。
四、登机
办好登机手续的学生凭护照、机票、登机牌办理出境手续(即通过边防登记)，之后通过安全检查，按登机牌上的指示，到指定登机口等候登机。登机后请按登机牌上的座位号坐好，将随身的行李放在头顶上面或前面座位下方。请不要大声喧哗，以免影响周围的乘客。起飞后，飞行期间会有饮料、酒水及午餐、晚餐供应。如果特殊需要，可按扶手旁边的按扭呼叫服务员。请不要带走飞机上任何物品，如耳机等，这些是飞机专用耳机，有可能毁坏你家中电器，因为功率非常大。
五、转机
有的航班在北京办理登机手续时已将下一段的登机牌换好，学生可根据登机牌上的指示找到登机口(GATE)，按登机时间登机。学生可在过境机场游览参观，购一些小纪念品，但切记在航班起飞前30分种到指定登机口等待登机。有的航线需要在中转机场等待通知，一般在飞机起飞前1小时可在电视屏幕上按航班号找到登机口和时间，请密切注意，中转机场没有登机广播。如果有疑问可持机票或登机牌向机场工作人员求助。
六、入境
飞机到爱尔兰后需填写入境卡，将护照一并交给入境官。中国学生需在非欧盟(NONEU)通道排队入境。入境后一般同学校或寄宿家庭在机场大厅等候，认清人名后，随家长回家，沐浴后休息，第二天早上到学校进行分班测试，开始留学生活。
